Kibo and KIST Join Hands to Promote Research Achievements


[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Chairman Kim Jong-ho, hereinafter referred to as Kibo) announced on the 26th that it has signed a comprehensive business agreement with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (hereinafter KIST) to promote the dissemination and commercialization of research achievements in national strategic technologies.


This agreement was established to build an organic cooperative system between Kibo and KIST to activate the technology commercialization of KIST's excellent research and development (R&D) achievements in national strategic technologies and to discover joint projects. National strategic technologies refer to ten future advanced technology fields including semiconductors and displays, secondary batteries, next-generation nuclear power, hydrogen, 5G/6G, bio, space and aviation, quantum, artificial intelligence and mobility, and cybersecurity.


Through this agreement, Kibo will comprehensively support ▲ technology valuation for in-kind contribution and technology transactions ▲ discounted evaluation fees and provision of patent automatic evaluation system services ▲ mediation of technology transfer and transactions ▲ linkage support for intellectual property (IP) evaluation guarantees, while KIST will provide ▲ dissemination of research achievements in national strategic technologies ▲ promotion of technology commercialization for technology innovation companies ▲ consultation for technology evaluation and policy support.


Kim Jong-ho, Chairman of Kibo, said, "With this agreement as an opportunity, we expect both institutions to actively promote customized support for technology innovation companies, playing a significant role in the dissemination of research achievements and promotion of technology commercialization." He added, "Kibo will continue to share expertise mutually to further expand the scope of collaboration and strengthen technology finance support, thereby fulfilling a key role in small and medium-sized enterprise support policies."
