Threat to North Korea's Surroundings and the International Community
Call for Diplomatic Engagement and Participation in Dialogue
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] On the 25th (local time), the U.S. Department of State stated regarding North Korea's ballistic missile launch, "This launch threatens countries around North Korea and the international community, violating multiple United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions."
In response to media inquiries about North Korea's ballistic missile launch on the same day, the State Department said, "This launch poses a threat to countries around North Korea and the international community. The United States condemns North Korea's ballistic missile launch."
The State Department emphasized, "We remain committed to a diplomatic approach toward North Korea and urge North Korea to engage in dialogue," adding, "Our defense commitments to South Korea and Japan remain steadfast."
Earlier, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that North Korea launched one short-range ballistic missile into the East Sea from the Taechon area in North Pyongan Province at approximately 6:53 a.m. Korean time on the 25th.
The military is reportedly analyzing the missile with a focus on the North Korean version of the Iskander ballistic missile (KN-23).
