On the 25th, Moon Doyeop shot 2-under-par 69 with one eagle, two birdies, and two bogeys in the final round held at Pam Hills Country Club (par 71) in Chilgok, Gyeongbuk. With a final total of 21-under-par 263, Moon tied with Kim Hanbyeol (26) and won in the playoff held at the 18th hole, becoming the winner of the 100 million KRW prize.
Trailing Kim Hanbyeol by one stroke until the 17th hole, Moon faced the 18th hole (par 5) and sank a birdie putt of about 1.5 meters, pushing the match into a playoff. Meanwhile, Kim Hanbyeol missed a birdie putt of about 2 meters, losing the chance to win.
The playoff at the 18th hole brought contrasting fortunes for the two players. Moon’s tee shot safely landed on the fairway, but Kim Hanbyeol’s tee shot veered left into the rough. Although Kim made a mistake on his second shot, Moon’s shot aiming for the green in two landed left of the green.
Ultimately, Moon succeeded with a birdie putt of about 1.5 meters, securing the victory. Moon said, "I was trailing early in the game because my score wasn’t coming out, but I maintained my pace until the end and finished well." He added, "I was nervous during the birdie putt on the 18th hole, but I believed in the downhill putt and hit it thinking I had to make it."
Moon, who recorded his second career win with the 2018 KPGA Championship and last year’s DB Insurance Promy Open victory, had struggled this season, making the top 10 only once in 15 tournaments.
However, with this playoff win, Moon recorded his third career victory.
Yoon Sungho (26) and rookie ranking leader Bae Yongjun (22) tied for 3rd place (15-under-par 269). Choi Jinho (38), who won last week’s Bizplay Electronic Newspaper Open, finished 6th (13-under-par 271).
