LG Electronics recently launched the 'Battery Turn' campaign in collaboration with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute to collect used batteries from premium cordless vacuum cleaners Code Zero A9 and A9S, encouraging customers to participate in resource recycling and offering benefits when purchasing new batteries. This campaign will run until the end of October.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] LG Electronics is accelerating its practice of the circular economy by recycling resources used in home appliances and actively utilizing recycled resources when manufacturing new products.
On the 25th, LG Electronics announced that it has launched the ‘Battery Turn’ campaign in collaboration with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute. The campaign collects used batteries from premium cordless vacuum cleaners CodeZero A9 and A9S to encourage customer participation in resource circulation and offers benefits when purchasing new batteries.
Running until the end of October, customers who use CodeZero A9 and A9S can participate in the Battery Turn event by signing up on LG Electronics’ official website or the LG ThinQ app, and receive a 10,000 KRW discount when purchasing a new battery. Used batteries can be returned to the waste home appliance collection boxes managed by the Ministry of Environment’s ‘Resource Circulation Practice Platform.’ Collection boxes are available at LG Best Shops and other home appliance retailers.
In May, LG Electronics also conducted a two-month campaign to collect used batteries from cordless and robotic vacuum cleaners. Additionally, to practice the circular economy, the company is expanding the use of recycled plastics and eco-friendly packaging in manufacturing home appliances.
Following the achievement of using 27,000 tons of recycled plastic last year, LG Electronics is pursuing a goal to cumulatively use 600,000 tons by 2030. To this end, recycled plastics, which were mainly used for internal parts, have been expanded to the exterior of products starting this month. Currently, materials made from recycled plastic are used on the exteriors of refrigerators, stylers, and dishwashers, and the company plans to continuously expand the application to products such as Aero Furniture, scheduled for release within the year.
Ryu Jae-cheol, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics H&A Business Division, said, “To create a better environment for future generations, we will actively collect recyclable waste home appliances and parts and continue to increase the use of recycled plastics.”
