Real-Time Tracking of Reporter Movement... Faster Police Response to Crimes in Subway

Seoul Dongjak Police Station Collaborates with Seoul Metro
Establishes Location Tracking System and One-Touch Hotline

Real-Time Tracking of Reporter Movement... Faster Police Response to Crimes in Subway

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Dongjak Police Station in Seoul announced on the 25th that it has collaborated with Seoul Metro Corporation to establish a subway location tracking system and a one-touch hotline in the police station's 112 control room to respond swiftly to violent crimes occurring within the subway.

Unlike the previous method where the control center requested and confirmed the caller's location, the new system allows the police to directly verify the location through an application, simplifying the process and enabling early apprehension of criminals and ensuring the safety of victims.

The subway location tracking system helps the 112 control room at the police station to check real-time movement information such as the subway line the caller is using, the train car they are on, and the next station to arrive. Additionally, the real-time information can be quickly shared between the police station, control center, and subway stations via the one-touch hotline (direct phone line).

With the recent steady increase in violent crimes within the subway and the rising public anxiety, the police undertook this collaboration to strengthen on-site response capabilities and contribute to securing public safety.

Earlier, on the 21st, a security cooperation meeting was held among the station managers and security officers of 18 subway stations under the jurisdiction of Dongjak Police Station to establish a rapid dispatch and efficient cooperation system in case of violent crimes occurring in the subway.

During the meeting, topics such as "Comprehensive Response Measures for Subway Violent Crimes" and "Plans to Activate Collaboration and Communication" were discussed, and related agencies agreed to strengthen the cooperative system for crime prevention and response within the subway with the shared goal of public safety.

Kwon Hyuk-jun, Chief of Seoul Dongjak Police Station, stated, "We will continue to proactively respond to violent crimes in the subway through cooperation with related organizations and make ongoing efforts to ensure public safety."
