Chefs' Secretly Researched Chicken... Peacock Launches 10,000-Won 'Saengsaeng Chicken'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Emart announced on the 25th that it will launch ‘Saengsaeng Chicken’ created by Peacock’s product development team, the ‘Secret Laboratory,’ on the 29th.

Saengsaeng Chicken uses a secret powder developed through various experiments by the Secret Laboratory to bring out the rich flavor of the chicken itself. Priced at 9,980 won, it uses refrigerated No. 10 chickens, which are commonly used by major franchise chicken companies.

Saengsaeng Chicken’s flavor is enhanced when cooked in an air fryer at 190 degrees Celsius for 5 minutes. Emart recognized that unlike delivery chicken, large mart chicken is not eaten immediately after purchase, so it was made to maintain its original flavor and crispiness even when simply cooked in an air fryer.

The Secret Laboratory that developed the chicken employs professional chefs, including those from Chosun Hotel. Each chef is responsible for product development in their specialty areas such as Chinese/Oriental cuisine, Korean cuisine, Western cuisine, bakery and desserts, and beverages, and they are deeply involved in Peacock’s product development.

The previously released ‘Jocheong Boneless Dakgangjeong’ sold about 300 tons by weight over six months since its launch in March. The number of customers who purchased it reached 600,000. To reduce the burden of dining out amid high inflation, Emart is offering Jocheong Boneless Dakgangjeong at 940 won per 100g until the 28th. Considering the original price was 1,880 won per 100g, this is about half the price.

Kim Jinkyung, Emart deli buyer, said, “We are introducing products using Peacock Secret Laboratory’s unique recipes to innovate the quality of large mart deli products,” and added, “Emart will continue to explore various ways to reduce customers’ grocery expenses and make Emart deli products taste better than dining out.”
