Emergency Rescue Control Team Unscheduled Activation Drill Conducted

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Kim Joil) is working hard to strengthen disaster response capabilities to protect the lives and property of residents.

Jeonnam Fire announced on the 23rd that it conducted an unannounced activation drill of the Emergency Rescue Control Team.

The drill was held at Tetelu Theme Park in Damyang-gun, with 242 participants from 17 related organizations and groups including the Fire Headquarters, simulating a scenario of collapse and fire caused by an earthquake and multiple casualties.

The drill began with the transmission of disaster situation messages from the 119 Comprehensive Situation Room and was operated in the same manner as an actual site, including emergency assembly of control team operators, situation assessment meetings, press briefings, and final situation assessment meetings.

In addition, advanced IT technologies such as fire-fighting drones were integrated throughout the training process, focusing on life rescue and fire suppression activities, casualty statistics management, and safety management of on-site personnel.

The Emergency Rescue Control Team is a temporary organization that oversees and coordinates emergency rescue matters at disaster sites and manages the division of roles and command and control among support agencies.

The central control team leader is the Commissioner of the National Fire Agency, while the heads of provinces and cities/counties are respectively the Fire Headquarters Chiefs and Fire Station Chiefs.

Chief Kim Joil said, “Due to the recent increase in size and height of buildings, new types of large-scale complex disasters that have not been experienced before are expected to occur,” and added, “We will do our best to create a safe Jeonnam by cultivating integrated command capabilities through cooperation among emergency rescue support agencies.”
