[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Huons Meditech, a medical device specialist company under the Huons Group, is accelerating the expansion of the sterilization market by supplying spatial sterilizers to major pharmaceutical companies' drug manufacturing facilities.
Huons Meditech announced on the 23rd that it recently completed the installation of the spatial sterilizer ‘Huen IVH ER’ at manufacturing facilities of more than 10 major domestic pharmaceutical companies.
Spatial sterilization is generally conducted in production facilities subject to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards, research laboratories under GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards, and hospitals. Especially in GMP facilities requiring strict management, spatial sterilization is regularly performed to prevent infection during drug manufacturing and packaging, and in infection-sensitive BL laboratories and hospitals, it is carried out to manage infections and maintain microbial cleanliness.
Spatial sterilizers completely sterilize not only strains on surfaces with the highest exposure frequency within hospitals but also airborne bacteria such as tuberculosis bacteria. The Huen IVH ER supplied this time is the latest spatial sterilizer applying Huons Meditech’s patented 'Air cushion technology.' According to the company, it is a technology that sterilizes fine pathogenic organic matter dispersed in the space by atomizing a liquid sterilizer under high temperature and high pressure, then evaporating it with hot air.
A Huons Meditech official said, "To respond to new viruses that can occur anytime even after COVID-19, effective infection prevention and sterilization management are more important than anything else," adding, "Previously, domestic GMP facilities had no choice but to introduce expensive foreign products, but now, as sterilization management can be done at a more reasonable price, we expect it to be introduced to more GMP facilities in the future."
