Negotiations Concluded Without Disputes for Two Consecutive Years Following Last Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Korea GM labor and management announced on the 23rd that they held a signing ceremony for the agreement on the '2022 Wage and Collective Agreement Negotiations (Wage and Collective Bargaining)' and officially concluded this year's negotiations.


The signing ceremony held the day before at Korea GM's Bupyeong headquarters was attended by negotiation representatives from both labor and management, including Roberto Rempel, President of Korea GM, Chanwoo Lee, Senior Vice Chairman of the Metal Workers' Union, and Juno Kim, Branch Chief of the Metal Workers' Union Korea GM Branch. They signed the 2022 wage and collective agreement jointly derived by labor and management. With this, Korea GM labor and management concluded negotiations for the second consecutive year without disputes.


President Roberto Rempel stated, "I am pleased to have quickly concluded this year's labor-management negotiations, creating positive momentum," and added, "We will make company-wide efforts to ensure the smooth preparation and successful launch of the next-generation global new vehicles, which will play a key role in the future normalization of company management."


By concluding this year's wage and collective agreement negotiations, Korea GM will be able to focus more on the sales of key Chevrolet brand models, including the Trailblazer, which plays a pivotal role in securing sustainable future competitiveness through strengthening the company's profitability, as well as the Traverse, Tahoe, and Colorado.


Meanwhile, Korea GM labor and management started with a preliminary meeting on June 23 and, after 18 rounds of negotiations, reached a tentative agreement on the 2nd. Subsequently, a ratification vote on the tentative agreement was held among union members on the 6th and 7th, with a 55.8% approval rate based on the number of voters.
