Song Chi-hyung, Dunamu Chairman, Says "Blockchain World Will Come" After Crypto Winter Ends

[Asia Economy Reporter Ji Yeon-jin] The 'Upbit Developer Conference (UDC),' a festival for blockchain developers, opened on the 22nd at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX) in Busan. Now in its 5th year, UDC is an event to reflect on the changes in daily life led by blockchain and to share a blueprint for the future.

The theme of this event, held until the 23rd, is "Imagine your Blockchain Life," which shares inspiration on various blockchain trends and covers the latest trends such as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT), Metaverse, Decentralized Finance (DeFi), and Web 3.0.

The event opened with the opening stage by Song Chi-hyung, chairman of Dunamu. Chairman Song said, "I don't know how long this winter (crypto winter) will last, but the end of this winter will be a completely new phase unlike anything before."

He emphasized, "The interoperability and composability of blockchain will present a new direction for the global content market and creator economy created by massive Over-The-Top (OTT) services and social media (SNS). Perhaps we will welcome a 'blockchain generation' for whom wallets are more familiar than SNS or messengers, and managing one's identity through tokens is part of everyday life."

On the first day of the event, lectures and panel discussions on Layer 2, smart contracts, Web 3.0, security, and Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO) will continue. Notable speakers include Dalip Tyagi, Head of Developer Relations at Polygon; Matt Sogg, Head of Product and Partner Development at Solana Foundation; and Mel McCann, Head of Development at Cardano Foundation.

On the second day, the 23rd, lectures and panel discussions related to NFT, Metaverse, gaming, and the Travel Rule will be held. Presenters include Alexandre Dreyfus, founder and CEO of Chiliz & Socios.com; Justin Sun, founder of TRON; Sebastian Borget, Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of The Sandbox; and Shitty Rastogi, Chief Marketing Officer of Manganey Steppen.

During UDC 2022, side events such as an NFT gallery, corporate exhibitions, and networking dinners will also take place. At the NFT gallery set up in the 5th-floor lobby, visitors can see NFT works by versatile creator Gu Jun-yeop, EBS director Han-gyeol who created 'Pengsoo,' and fine art master Kim Nam-pyo.
