Students from the Department of AI Electronics and the Department of Radiology at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, along with their advisor, Professor Je Jae-yong from the Department of Radiology, gathered in front of the camera.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Students from Dong-Eui Institute of Technology swept several awards including the Grand Prize, Gold Prize, and Silver Prize at the ‘2022 21st Korea GLAMI AWARD Youth Invention Idea Competition’ aimed at discovering and nurturing creative talents.
The competition, hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the Korea University Invention Association, and Kongju National University, was organized to discover creative invention talents equipped with knowledge competitiveness and support their growth as the main force of a knowledge-based intellectual property powerhouse.
A total of 1,897 ideas were submitted over four months from March to June, and after preliminary and final judging (public evaluation), 142 final winners were selected in August.
The awards ceremony took place on the 17th at the Nam Jong-hyun Invention Culture Center in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province.
Students from the AI Electronics and Radiology departments of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology participated in the university division of the competition.
Yang Jeong-ho, a sophomore in AI Electronics, and Kim Yuna (sophomore), Noh Seong-woon (freshman), Kim Su-yeon (freshman), and Lee Hye-in (freshman) from Radiology received the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, Bronze Prize, and other awards for their innovative ideas and high practical applicability in daily life.
Yang Jeong-ho, who won the Grand Prize, proposed a ‘Sitting Posture Correction Device’ using a tilt sensor.
The idea is an electronic belt designed to help modern people improve their sitting posture by using tilt and pressure sensors to check posture and sound an alarm when a posture that strains the spine or joints is detected.
Professor Je Jae-yong of the Radiology Department, the supervising professor, received the Leader Award in recognition of his contribution to the development of the Korea Youth Invention Idea Competition and his guidance of the students.
Professor Je Jae-yong said, “Even after the competition, we will continue to support students in enhancing their creativity and nurturing their dreams through on-campus capstone design projects and startup club activities.”
