Joint Public-Private Crackdown on Illegal Advertisements Immediately After Chuseok
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] Andong City, Gyeongbuk, is making every effort to create a 'Clean City' during the 8th term of the elected government to provide a pleasant living environment and offer tourists a clean and bright city image.
Recently, in celebration of the national holiday Chuseok, the city carried out a 'Comprehensive Cleanup of Illegal Advertisements Related to the Chuseok Holiday' from September 5 to 16.
On September 13, the Andong branch of the Gyeongbuk Outdoor Advertising Association, along with six joint civil-government teams and self-maintenance teams from eup, myeon, and dong districts, conducted cleanup operations targeting illegal advertisements around major intersections and roadsides in these areas.
This holiday season saw a significant reduction in unregistered banners posted throughout the city and its districts, creating a pleasant environment for returning residents, tourists, and citizens.
The city plans to contribute to the creation of a Clean City through continuous monitoring and guidance, as there have been numerous cases where some individuals and groups indiscriminately posted illegal advertisements during the administrative power gap period of the Chuseok holiday, damaging the cityscape and potentially endangering traffic safety.
An Andong city official stated, “We will continue to do our best to create a pleasant urban landscape. We will persistently work to maintain banners only after registration to build a Clean City Andong free of illegal advertisements, and we ask for ongoing cooperation from citizens.”
