[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Two global youth contests focusing on urban culture and history will be held in Andong, Gyeongbuk.
Andong City announced on the 14th that it will hold the ‘18th World Historical Cities Conference’ at the Andong International Convention Center this November, along with a ‘Youth UCC Contest’ and a ‘Youth Drawing Contest’.
These contests are designed to express the culture and history of each city through UCC and drawings, to promote exchange among youths from member cities, and to increase interest and understanding of the culture and history of other cities.
Applicants are youths living in 125 member cities across 65 countries of the World Historical Cities Federation, and applications can be submitted on the website by September 30.
The Youth UCC Contest targets middle school, high school, and university students, inviting videos on the theme ‘The Most Beautiful Place in the World, Our Hometown,’ showcasing each city’s culture, history, heritage, tourist attractions, and festivals.
The Youth Drawing Contest targets elementary and middle school students, inviting drawings on the theme ‘Our Masks and Our Culture Shown Through Drawings.’
Prizes will be awarded to 20 works in total: one grand prize winner, three excellence award winners, and six encouragement award winners for each contest. Judging will take place in mid-October, with results published on the World Historical Cities Conference website and announced at the closing ceremony during the conference.
All participants will receive certificates of participation, and winners will be awarded certificates and commemorative gifts. The drawings will be exhibited at the Andong International Convention Center during the conference, and the UCC videos will be screened at the opening ceremony.
