[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Iseul] Actor Lee Jung-jae, who won an Emmy Award, is returning to theaters with his screen debut film.
On the 14th, Studio Boninja announced that the film The Young Man (1994) will be released this month in a digitally remastered version after 28 years.
The film depicts the dreams and love of a young aspiring model racing to become a star. It is a stylishly crafted newtro cinema capturing the last drive of Generation X youth, whose desires raced at 180 km/h and could not be stopped. The film was directed by Bae Chang-ho, who was active and known as the "Steven Spielberg of Korea."
With The Young Man, Lee Jung-jae swept major awards including the Best New Actor at the 33rd Grand Bell Awards (1995), the New Actor Award in the film category at the 31st Baeksang Arts Awards (1995), the Best New Actor at the 16th Blue Dragon Film Awards (1995), and the New Actor Award at the 15th Korean Association of Film Critics Awards (1995).
Meanwhile, on the 12th (local time), Lee Jung-jae won the Best Actor in a TV Series award at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, USA, for the online streaming service (OTT) series Squid Game (2021).
