The Netflix drama 'Ojingeo Game' won six awards, including Best Director and Best Actor, at the Emmy Awards, the most prestigious awards in the U.S. television industry. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented the Best Director award to director Hwang Dong-hyuk and the Best Actor award to lead actor Lee Jung-jae at the 74th Emmy Awards ceremony held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on the 12th local time. Previously, at the Creative Arts Primetime Emmy Awards held on the 4th, Ojingeo Game won awards in the Guest Actor category (Lee Yoo-mi), Visual Effects, Stunt Performance, and Production Design, making a total of six awards.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk took the stage and said in English, "We made history together, not just me alone," and expressed hope that "this will not be the last time a non-English series wins." He added, "I hope this is not my last Emmy. I will return with Season 2." This is the first time a non-English drama has won the Best Director award at the Emmy Awards.

Lee Jung-jae said in English, "Thank you to the TV Academy, Netflix, and Director Hwang," and added, "Director Hwang creatively translated the realistic issues we face onto the screen with a solid script and excellent direction." Then, in Korean, he said, "I want to share this joy with the people, friends, family, and precious fans watching in the Republic of Korea." Lee Jung-jae became the first Korean actor to win the Best Actor award.

Ojingeo Game depicts a mysterious survival game with a prize of 45.6 billion won, where participants risk their lives to become the last winner. Since its release in September last year, it recorded 1.65045 billion hours viewed in the first 28 days, achieving the highest viewing hours in Netflix history and gaining worldwide popularity. Season 2 is currently in production.
