[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] General high schools and late admission high schools in the Seoul area will begin accepting applications from December 7.
According to the "2023 Academic Year Seoul Metropolitan High School Admission Process" announced by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education on the 9th, late admission high schools (general high schools) selected by the Superintendent of Education in Seoul, autonomous private high schools (Jasago), foreign language high schools (Oego), and international high schools will accept applications from December 7 to 9.
The announcement of successful candidates for Jasago, Oego, and international high schools will be on January 2 of next year. For late admission high schools selected by the Superintendent of Education, the assignment targets will be announced on January 6, and the assigned schools will be announced on February 2 of the same year.
A total of 209 general high schools, 17 Jasago, 6 special-purpose high schools, and 1 international high school in Seoul will select new students.
Janghun High School, which was a Jasago, has converted to a general high school and is recruiting new students, reducing the number of Jasago to 17, one less than the announcement in March. Dobong High School in Dobong-gu, Seoul, will not accept new students for the 2023 academic year due to consolidation. Dobong High School has relocated about 30 first-year students to nearby schools due to a decrease in the number of students, and once all second- and third-year students graduate, it will undergo administrative consolidation procedures.
Applicants for Jasago, Oego, and international high schools can also apply to general high schools simultaneously. If they fail to be admitted to the respective schools, they can participate from the second stage of the general high school student assignment process and apply to two schools within the general school district (schools) of their residence.
