[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Dong-joo] On the first day of the Chuseok holiday, the 9th, Gyeongdong Market in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, is bustling with citizens shopping. In 153 traditional markets across Seoul, due to damages caused by consecutive heavy rains and typhoons, the cost of preparing Chuseok tables has increased, so holiday ritual items and agricultural, marine, and livestock products are being sold at discounts ranging from 5% to 30%. In some markets, clothing and shoes are being sold at discounts of up to 80%.
