Encouraging Use of the Official 'HappyToonGather' Platform
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 8th that they will conduct the campaign 'Happy Toon Together' in collaboration with the Webtoon Illegal Distribution Response Council.
This is a movement to eradicate the use of illegal comic and webtoon distribution sites. It encourages the use of official platforms and lays the groundwork for system improvements and support projects. The Webtoon Illegal Distribution Response Council is an organization formed by Kakao Entertainment, Naver Webtoon, Lezhin Entertainment, RIDI, Kidari Studio, Topco, Toomics, One Store, and others.
On the same day, the Korea Creative Content Agency uploaded 'Fair Webtoon Life' on its official YouTube channel. The campaign video features actor Chae Jong-hyeop and Studio Lico, the studio behind the webtoon 'Return of the Mount Hua Sect,' working together.
Through illustrated images, it urges the eradication of illegal distribution site usage. Sixteen webtoon artists will present a relay webtoon with the same message over two months.
Participants include Park Yong-je of 'God of High School,' Lee Yoon-chang of 'Zombie Daughter,' Lee Hye of 'Please Take Care of This Life as Well,' Jaehoo of 'Memorist,' and Lee Yeon-ji of 'Ms. Giselle's Blood.' The webtoons can be viewed every Tuesday and Thursday on the Happy Toon Together website.
