- Announcement of '8th Elected Provincial Government Policy,' Signaling the Capital Region and Gangwon Era
- Residential and Accommodation Facilities Expected to Benefit from Transportation Developments such as the Donghae Northern Line
There is growing interest among buyers in the Gangwon-do real estate market. This is because the expansion of transportation networks, which significantly reduce accessibility to the Seoul metropolitan area, is being continuously announced following the Yangyang Expressway and Gangneung KTX.
According to the ‘8th Civilian Governor’s Policy’ confirmed by Gangwon Province last July, a transformation of Gangwon’s transportation is anticipated. The plan mentions opening an ‘All-Directions Seoul Metropolitan Area-Gangwon Era.’ By actively connecting metropolitan and arterial road networks as well as land, sea, and air routes, the physical distance to the Seoul metropolitan area will be shortened, ultimately aiming to establish a Seoul metropolitan area-Gangwon era with economic and welfare levels equal to those of the metropolitan area.
In fact, Gangwon’s transportation network is actively improving. According to the Korea National Railway Corporation, the Donghae Northern Line (Gangneung~Yangyang~Sokcho~Jejin) is being promoted with a target completion date of 2027. This line runs along the Gangwon coastal area and is expected to connect with the Donghae Central Line and Donghae Southern Line in the future, allowing seamless travel from Jejin to Busan without transfers.
The atmosphere in Gangwon’s housing market is also favorable. According to the Korea Real Estate Board’s subscription website, among 18 complexes offered in Gangwon over the past year, 13 were fully subscribed in the first priority round. The first priority subscription rate of 72.2% is 9.5 percentage points higher than the national average of 62.7%, and it is the highest among provincial cities (excluding metropolitan cities and special self-governing cities).
As a result, there is strong interest from buyers in the residential lodging facility ‘Saint Johns Yangyang The Suite,’ which is being built in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do.
Yangyang-gun is considered to have relatively good transportation conditions within Gangwon-do. By car, using the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway, it takes about 90 minutes from Seoul to Yangyang. Additionally, the Donghae Expressway provides easy access to Samcheok and Sokcho. Using National Route 7, which passes near the project site, allows quick travel to Yangyang city center, Sokcho, and Gangneung without entering the expressway. The Naksan Comprehensive Bus Terminal is also nearby, making it convenient to visit by public transportation.
‘Saint Johns Yangyang The Suite’ is located right in front of Naksan Beach, a famous spot in Yangyang-gun, offering views of the East Sea including Naksan Beach (except for some units), providing a ‘real beachfront’ location. The complex is designed in an ‘X’-shaped tower structure, increasing the ocean view ratio to about 81%. Also, the nearby Naksansa Temple, founded during the Silla Dynasty, attracts abundant tourist demand.
The hotel-grade amenities within the facility are also noteworthy. Fitness rooms, G·X rooms, business lounges, and other leisure and seminar spaces will be available, and a ‘Kids Academy Club’ designed to foster creativity and thinking skills in young children will be installed and operated. This space will offer various activity experiences and programs such as cooking and art.
Additionally, a ‘Rooftop Sky Pool’ facing the sky and sea will be installed on the roof. Nearby, relaxation and leisure facilities such as a ‘Panorama Observatory,’ ‘Sky Garden,’ and ‘Therapy Garden’ will be created. Each unit will also have a balcony, allowing residents to use the space according to their preferences.
‘Saint Johns Yangyang The Suite’ will consist of 216 units across 6 basement floors to 23 above-ground floors, with exclusive areas ranging from 37 to 125 square meters. The unit breakdown by size is as follows: ▲37㎡B 18 units ▲40㎡C 36 units ▲41㎡A 42 units ▲43㎡D 36 units ▲61㎡F 42 units ▲68㎡E 36 units ▲116㎡PH-B 2 units ▲125㎡PH-A 4 units.
‘Saint Johns Yangyang The Suite’ is planned to be built in the Yangyang-gun area of Gangwon-do. The project developer is Penta Y2 Co., Ltd., the project trustee is Hana Asset Trust Co., Ltd., and construction will be handled by Taewang E&C Co., Ltd. and Daeyoung Eco Construction Co., Ltd.
Sales promotion centers will be set up in both Seoul and Gangwon and are scheduled to open in September.
