[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ‘KG Champ’ Hwang Jeong-mi (23) has risen to 140th in the world rankings.
In the weekly women's golf world rankings officially announced on the 5th (local time), she earned 0.86 points, jumping an impressive 54 spots from 194th last week. She accumulated points by defeating defending champion Kim Su-ji (26) in a playoff at the KG·Edaily Ladies Open of the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, which concluded on the 4th at the Turning Point Country Club (par 72) in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. Hwang Jeong-mi, who debuted in 2020, secured her first career victory in her 65th tournament appearance.
There were no changes in the top ranks. Ko Jin-young (27) remains 1st, Nelly Korda (USA) 2nd, Minjee Lee (Australia) 3rd, Lydia Ko (New Zealand) 4th, and Brooke Henderson (Canada) holds 5th place. South Korea's Kim Hyo-joo (27) is 8th, Jeon In-ji (28) 10th, Kim Se-young (29) 12th, Park In-bi (34) 14th, Park Min-ji (24) 18th, and Choi Hye-jin (23) is 19th. Gaby Lopez (Mexico), winner of the Dana Open on the US LPGA Tour, jumped 30 spots to 37th.
