Strict Preemptive Measures Ordered to Prevent Loss of Life and Property for Residents
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the morning of the 5th at 8:30 AM, Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam, held the 3rd situation assessment meeting regarding the northward approach of Typhoon No. 11 ‘Hinnamnor’ at the Geochang-gun Disaster Countermeasures Situation Room, with all department heads in attendance.
Geochang-gun has been operating the ‘Geochang-gun Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters’ since 6 PM on the 4th, after issuing Emergency Level 1.
Through this meeting, it was judged that the typhoon is developing very strongly as it moves northward, requiring preemptive response measures. Accordingly, the emergency level was raised to Level 2 at 10 AM on the 5th to respond accordingly.
During the meeting, Mayor Gu requested, “In preparation for the typhoon, please conduct thorough preliminary inspections of large-scale construction sites such as the Susungdae Suspension Bridge and the Future Agriculture Complex Multipurpose Gymnasium.”
In particular, he instructed safety measures for all facilities including Gajo Healing Land closure, industrial complexes, solar power facilities, city tower cranes, town and township sports facilities, rivers, designated banner posting stands, Changpoweon, and the Geochang Incident Office cemetery management.
He also urged thorough inspections of safety measures for the Geochang traditional market, specialty product sales centers, rice paddies, fruit trees, agricultural vinyl greenhouses, as well as urban drainage reservoirs, manholes, sediment removal, and other daily life facilities to prevent any damage to the lives and property of residents.
