Councilor Lee Gwisoon (Gwangsan 4, Democratic Party of Korea) will serve as the chair, and ▲ Kim Miseon (Advisor of the Korea Financial Welfare Counseling Association) ▲ Oh Hyunok (Director of Gwangsan-gu Financial Welfare Counseling Center) ▲ Yoo Sundeok (Executive Director of Jubilee Bank) ▲ Park Sumin (Chairperson of Gwangju Youth Wallet Training Center) ▲ Song Gwanchun (Gwangju Metropolitan City Economic Policy Officer) ▲ Baek Jeongsun (Head of Job Policy Division, Gwangsan-gu Office) will present and participate in the discussion.
The presenters will suggest the future direction of financial welfare through presentations on the background and successful cases of establishing financial welfare counseling centers, and discuss policy measures for debtor relief in cooperation with Gwangju City.
Councilor Lee said, "Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of people making extreme choices due to lack of places to resolve debt-related worries is increasing," adding, "We prepared this forum to review financial welfare policies for individual debt resolution and explore related measures."
He continued, "With the surge in multiple debtors due to the livelihood and economic crisis, a safety net for citizens struggling with debt is urgently needed. I believe it is the public's duty to rescue citizens suffering from malignant debt and help them have opportunities for a fresh start," and said, "I hope a continuous and comprehensive financial welfare system will be established for the economic rehabilitation of debtors."
The forum is open to all Gwangju citizens for on-site participation and can also be accessed via the City Council's website YouTube channel.
