[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Director Jeong Ji-young is presenting a film based on the 1999 'Samnye Nara Super Incident.'
On the 5th, CJ ENM announced that the film Boys has been officially invited to the 'Korean Cinema Today - Special Premiere' section of the 27th Busan International Film Festival.
Boys depicts the story of a detective squad leader who re-investigates a robbery-homicide case at a small-town supermarket, where the suspects were boys accused of the crime. Detective Hwang Joon-cheol (played by Seol Kyung-gu), who reopens the investigation into the Our Super robbery-homicide case, meets one by one the boys who were framed as culprits, the victim and sole witness Yoon Mi-sook (played by Jin Kyung), and Choi Woo-sung (played by Yoo Jun-sang), the detective originally in charge, as he struggles to uncover the truth.
Directed by Jeong Ji-young, who has illuminated the social undercurrents for 40 years with films such as South of the Mountain (1990), Namyeong-dong 1985 (2012), Broken Arrow (2012), and Black Money (2019), and starring actor Seol Kyung-gu.
Meanwhile, this year's Busan International Film Festival will be held from October 5 to 14.
