[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Korean Air announced on the 5th that it will resume the operation of the ‘transfer-only domestic flight’ between Gimhae and Incheon Airport, which was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, after 2 years and 6 months.
Korean Air will operate the Gimhae~Incheon Airport route with two daily flights using Boeing 737-8 aircraft starting from the 30th. Departures from Busan are at 7:00 AM and 3:25 PM. Departures from Incheon are at 9:30 AM and 6:45 PM.
The transfer-only domestic flight is a direct flight between regional airports and Incheon Airport exclusively for passengers transferring to international flights at Incheon Airport.
Passengers traveling to Gimhae Airport via Incheon Airport using the transfer-only domestic flight can board the transfer-only domestic flight upon arrival at Incheon Airport. They will undergo immigration, customs inspection, and quarantine procedures at Gimhae Airport. Checked baggage can also be collected at the final destination, Gimhae Airport.
Conversely, when departing from Gimhae Airport via Incheon Airport, all international flight boarding procedures, including departure inspection and baggage check-in, can be completed at Gimhae Airport. Accordingly, the convenience for passengers departing from Busan and the Gyeongnam region who need to board international flights at Incheon Airport has been significantly enhanced.
A Korean Air official stated, “We expect that the resumption of the domestic flight operation between Gimhae and Incheon Airport will improve convenience for customers departing from regional areas,” and added, “Korean Air will continue to improve customer convenience so that everyone can easily use international routes departing from Incheon Airport.”
