[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the afternoon of the 4th, Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, inspected the stone retaining wall construction site at Seoul Daebang Elementary School in Singil 6-dong in preparation for Typhoon Hin Nam No.
Seoul Daebang Elementary School had some damage to its stone retaining wall due to the recent heavy rain, and reconstruction work has begun due to concerns about collapse.
The district has been inspecting personnel and facilities since September 1st in preparation for the typhoon. The flood control task force has been mobilized for emergency activities, and measures such as increasing the number of pumps and sandbags are being taken to minimize flood damage.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, stated, “With the belief that public officials are the last bastion protecting public safety, we will do our utmost to protect the lives and property of residents without any negligence.”
On the morning of the 4th, Lee Ki-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, visited the free vehicle inspection site for residents held in the Yangcheon District Office parking lot to check the maintenance status and urged thorough inspection of vehicle safety rules and flood response measures in preparation for the upcoming typhoon, emphasizing aspects directly related to residents' safety.
Yangcheon District is operating a free vehicle inspection service from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 4th to support safe driving for residents returning home for Chuseok.
The inspection team, composed of 30 volunteer members from the Seoul City Automobile Specialized Maintenance Business Association Yangcheon Branch (divided into three groups), checks passenger car engine oil, coolant levels, tire air pressure, battery, and lighting devices. Additionally, they provide free replenishment of consumable parts such as wipers, bulbs, engine oil, and washer fluid, receiving great appreciation from residents.
Visiting the site that day, Mayor Lee carefully checked for any inconveniences faced by residents and said, “I hope everyone receives the pre-inspection conducted at the district office today and travels safely and happily to their hometowns with their families.” He added, “A typhoon is predicted to approach ahead of Chuseok, but Yangcheon District will do its utmost to protect residents' safety and minimize damage through proactive emergency response operations.”
