Goseong County, Gyeongnam Province, has established a Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and entered an emergency duty system to minimize damage caused by the northward approach of Typhoon Hinamnno.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, formed a Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and entered an emergency duty system as of 12:00 PM on the 4th to minimize damage caused by the northward movement of Typhoon ‘Hinnamnor’ No. 11.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that Typhoon ‘Hinnamnor’ would bring strong winds and rain, with its power potentially exceeding that of Typhoon ‘Sarah’ in 1959 and Typhoon ‘Maemi’ in 2003.
Accordingly, the county held a countermeasure meeting on the 2nd, urging each eup and myeon to strive to minimize crop damage. Then, at 10:00 AM on the 4th, a typhoon ‘Hinnamnor’ countermeasure meeting was held under the chairmanship of Lee Gi-bong, Deputy Governor of Goseong-gun, with department heads attending, deciding to switch to an emergency duty system.
Subsequently, flood control materials and equipment were secured in advance, and the operating status of six drainage pump stations located in Sunam-ri, Goseong-eup, was inspected.
In addition, department heads and eup/myeon chiefs personally visited disaster-prone areas such as landslide-vulnerable zones and coastal lowlands for pre-inspection. To intensively inspect facilities vulnerable to strong winds and waves, inspection teams for agricultural, forestry, and fishery facilities such as vinyl greenhouses, vessels, and fishing ports, as well as outdoor advertising, were organized and operated, ensuring thorough typhoon preparedness.
Lee Sang-geun, the county governor, said, “Thorough prior preparation is necessary to prevent damage caused by the typhoon,” adding, “In particular, safety management of agricultural facilities such as greenhouses will be strengthened to prevent crop damage for farms approaching harvest season.”
He continued, “The words prevention and preparedness are among the most important values in safety,” and urged residents, “Please refrain from going out during strong rain and wind, check weather conditions through disaster broadcasts, and pay attention to safety.”
Earlier, Governor Lee visited Nampo Port to conduct a pre-inspection of fishing port facilities in preparation for potential typhoon damage, focusing all efforts on disaster occurrence preparedness.
