Wonju City Prepares for Typhoon Hinnamnor... Search Operation for Elderly Couple in Buron-myeon Temporarily Suspended Won Gang-su, mayor of Wonju City, is receiving an update on the search status for missing persons in Bullon-myeon from fire officials.

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] As Typhoon No. 11 'Hinnamnor' approaches, Wonju City in Gangwon Province is switching to a typhoon response system and will temporarily suspend the search operation for the elderly couple missing in Buron-myeon due to the recent heavy rain.

On the 4th, Won Gang-su, mayor of Wonju City, held a disaster safety countermeasures headquarters meeting and urged all efforts to respond to the typhoon. In particular, he instructed enhanced monitoring of historically flood-prone areas and drainage maintenance, as well as strengthened surveillance of vulnerable facilities at risk of collapse due to steep slopes and landslides. The city took a total of 85 preemptive measures to prepare for the typhoon and heavy rain, including securing materials against strong winds. Meanwhile, the search for the missing elderly couple in Buron-myeon will be temporarily suspended from the 5th to the 12th due to the typhoon.

Mayor Won said, "We will mobilize all our capabilities to minimize typhoon damage and ensure the safety of citizens."
