[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Digital Platform Government Committee, which is drawing the blueprint for the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's core policy, the 'Digital Platform Government,' was launched on the 2nd. President Yoon personally appointed the private members at the inauguration ceremony, lending strength to the committee.



The Digital Platform Government Committee, a presidential advisory committee, held its inauguration ceremony at 10 a.m. on the 2nd at the Yongsan Presidential Office with President Yoon in attendance. Following the appointment of Chairman Ko Jin in July, President Yoon awarded appointment letters to 18 private members and discussed the future direction with the attendees.


The committee includes 19 private members who are experts in digital technologies such as AI, data, and security, as well as public administration and industrial ecosystem fields, led by Chairman Ko Jin. Ex officio government members include the Ministers of Strategy and Finance, Science and ICT, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Chairperson of the Personal Information Protection Commission.


The private members will work in six subcommittees: AI, data, infrastructure, services, innovation in working methods, industrial ecosystem, and information security. Chairman Ko stated that they will focus on four major tasks: ▲implementing innovative infrastructure for the Digital Platform Government ▲full opening and promotion of data utilization ▲government work innovation using AI and data ▲ensuring a safe and trustworthy user environment.

Included in the Yoon administration's 110 national tasks, the Digital Platform Government means that citizens, companies, and the government collaboratively solve social problems and create new value on a digital platform where all data is connected. Instead of the government unilaterally providing services as a monopolistic supplier, the goal is to collaborate with the private sector and become partners in innovation.


The AI and data subcommittee includes ▲Ha Jung-woo, Head of Naver Clova AI Lab (subcommittee chair) ▲Hwang Hee, CEO of Kakao Healthcare ▲Bae Soon-min, Head of KT AI2XL. The infrastructure subcommittee includes ▲Oh Jong-hoon, Professor at KAIST Graduate School of Information Media Management (subcommittee chair) ▲Lee Han-joo, CEO of Bespin Global ▲Song Ho-chul, CEO of Duzon Bizon Platform Division. The services subcommittee includes ▲Cha In-hyuk, CEO of CJ OliveNetworks (subcommittee chair) ▲Kim Jong-hyun, CEO of Cocoon ▲Kim Hyung-sook, Director of Hanyang University Digital Healthcare Center.


The innovation in working methods subcommittee includes ▲Kim Young-mi, Professor of Public Administration at Sangmyung University (subcommittee chair) ▲Moon Myung-jae, Professor of Public Administration at Yonsei University ▲Shin Eun-young, CEO of SAP Korea. The industrial ecosystem subcommittee includes ▲Jo Jun-hee, Chairman of Korea Software Industry Association ▲Koo Tae-eon, CEO of Law Firm Lin Tech & Law ▲Ahn Sung-woo, CEO of Zigbang. The information security subcommittee includes Kwon Heon-young, Professor at Korea University Graduate School of Information Security Jung Ji-yeon, Secretary-General of Korea Consumer Federation Kim Dae-hwan, CEO of Somansa.

Going forward, the committee will present the vision, philosophy, and direction of the Digital Platform Government centered on the subcommittees and establish detailed plans for key tasks by the first quarter of next year.


Chairman Ko said, "Once the Digital Platform Government is completed, a 'proactive government service' that anticipates and provides what citizens want will be realized, and companies are expected to create new businesses by utilizing high-quality data opened by the government." He added, "The Digital Platform Government Committee will plan, coordinate, and evaluate major projects, report its activities to the Cabinet meeting quarterly, and secure execution power to dispel any concerns."
