Godae Medical Center Participates in 'UKC'... [Asia Economy Reporter Youngwon Kim] Korea University Medical Center announced on the 1st that it participated in the '2022 US-KOREA Conference (UKC)'. In particular, NewLive, a subsidiary of Korea University Medical Technology Holdings, won 3rd place in the final round of the UKC Startup Pitching Competition (SPC) session.


UKC is an event hosted by the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA), the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST), and the Korea-US Science Cooperation Center (KUSCO), held on the 16th of last month (local time) at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Washington. Attendees included Korea University President Jin-Taek Jung, Director of External Cooperation Hyuk-Ki Song, Director of Research Bong-Jun Yoon, Director of Medical Research Byung-Joo Ham, and Deputy Director of Medical Research Tae-Hoon Kim.


The four-day conference was held under the theme "The Role of Science and Technology After the Pandemic," aiming to promote exchanges between Korean and American science and technology experts and contribute to human health through the advancement of science and technology.


The event consisted of programs such as the Sponsor Forum, the UKC IES (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Symposium) focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship by science and technology experts through technology startups, the UKC Startup Pitching Competition (SPC) supporting entry into the US market and investment attraction through IR by various technology startup companies to local VCs and ACs, and the Start-up Demo Session introducing research achievements and products of participating companies. Korea University Medical Center presented the technologies and commercialization achievements of its medical school and medical technology holding subsidiaries.


In the SPC session, OncoMaster, NewLive, and ExoPert, subsidiaries of Korea University Medical Technology Holdings, conducted investor relations (IR) presentations targeting local VCs and ACs. Among the 10 companies that advanced as final candidates along with local companies, NewLive won 3rd place. Awardees are provided with prize money and opportunities to attract investment through meetings with VCs, ACs, and industry officials who participated as judges.


NewLive is an innovative medical device company continuously developing technology that non-invasively stimulates the vagus nerve to increase cerebral neurotransmitters, treating degenerative brain diseases such as depression, epilepsy, and tinnitus.
