[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] ESTsoft is experiencing a decline in the early trading session on the 31st. This appears to be due to an error caused by the vaccine program 'Alyac' from its affiliate ESTsecurity the previous day.
As of 9:09 AM today, ESTsoft is trading at 9,080 KRW, down 3.51% (330 KRW) from the previous trading day. Shortly after the market opened, ESTsoft's stock price fell as much as 6.16% (580 KRW) to 8,830 KRW compared to the previous day.
This seems to be the result of an error caused when ESTsecurity's vaccine program 'Alyac' mistakenly identified a normal program as ransomware the day before. Some users' PCs using Alyac became unresponsive, prompting ESTsecurity to initiate an emergency response.
Regarding the cause of the error, ESTsecurity briefly stated, "The error that occurred today was confirmed to be due to a malfunction of the ransomware detection function after the application of an advanced ransomware detection feature," and explained, "This error does not cause any damage to users' PCs."
Alyac is a domestic vaccine program with approximately 16 million users, and ESTsecurity is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) based on Alyac's success. ESTsoft is the largest shareholder of ESTsecurity.
