This event, under the slogan "Towards Gender Equality for a Happy Tomorrow," will be held face-to-face for the first time in three years since COVID-19 to establish a culture of gender equality.
First, on September 2 at 10 a.m., the district will hold the "2022 Seocho-gu Gender Equality Week Commemoration Ceremony" in the large auditorium on the 2nd floor of the district office. The ceremony will begin with a congratulatory performance by a special ensemble, followed by an awards ceremony presenting the "8th Seocho Women’s Award" to Seocho residents and organizations who have led efforts in realizing gender equality and expanding women's social participation.
Additionally, awards will be given for the "Youth Gender Empathy Short Writing Contest" targeting middle and high school students. Afterwards, a special lecture by Jeong Woo-cheol, a storyteller docent from the art world, will be held.
Alongside this, the district will hold the "Seocho-gu Gender Equality Grassroots Festival" in the 1st-floor lobby. This participatory event is planned directly by 17 local grassroots organizations and activists and consists of congratulatory performances and various experience booths.
The congratulatory performances include grassroots activists’ shows such as the Seoripul Harmonica and Mini Harp Ensemble, as well as a unique kalimba performance by Hwang Ji-soo, this year’s Seocho Women’s Award recipient. Experience booths will be set up in a corner of the venue, featuring ▲Experience Zone (making delicious snacks with toppings, oracle card experience for self-discovery) ▲Knowledge Zone (re-examining occupations from a gender perspective, pregnancy experience) ▲Event Zone (writing pledges for gender equality practice).
Notably, participants who write pledges for gender equality practice at the Event Zone will receive a potted plant as a gift.
In addition, the district will hold gender equality events at the regional Seocho Women and Family Plazas, which are women and family-friendly spaces. The Seocho Center will host the "5th Dad Chef Cooking Festival" on September 3, preparing a special time for families, and on September 6 and 7, it will hold a "Brunch Movie Salon" on the 4th-floor book caf? where participants can enjoy movies and brunch together on the theme of gender equality. The Jamwon Center will conduct the "Seocho Children Read Equality" children’s book report contest and select and award outstanding works.

This forum, themed "Talking about Respectful Care!", gathers care workers to discuss issues in care policies, shifts in perception of care labor, and development plans.
Jung Sook-hee, director of the Urban Laborers Comprehensive Support Center, will moderate, and Professor Yoon Ja-young of Chungnam National University’s Department of Economics will present on "The Social Value and Perception Shift of Care Labor." A discussion on development plans for care labor in various fields will follow.
Geumcheon-gu Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon said, "Care is needed by everyone at some point, whether children or the elderly," adding, "As our society’s awareness of gender equality has improved, I hope this forum will be an opportunity to reconsider the roles of individuals, the state, and society in care."
