[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Sejong Center for the Performing Arts announced on the 29th that it will hold the 2022 Mixed Orchestra performance titled 'Collision and Harmony' in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Gugak Orchestra.

The Mixed Orchestra is a concept devised by Kim Sung-guk, the director of the Seoul Metropolitan Gugak Orchestra, representing the birth of a new ensemble and instruments that express Korean traditional sounds by combining the traditional gugak orchestra with Western orchestra and electronic instruments.

This performance will feature a large-scale orchestra of 90 musicians, including 55 gugak orchestra players and 35 Western orchestra players, filling the stage of the Sejong Grand Theater.

For the 'Collision and Harmony' performance, Director Kim Sung-guk collaborated with four composers?Hong Jeong-ui, James Ra, Choi Ji-hye, and Jang Seok-jin?who created pieces themed around 'Sujecheon,' 'Impressions of Korea,' 'Lives of Martyred Missionaries,' 'Taepyeongso's Neungge Melody,' and 'Elements of Film Music.'

Featured soloists include cellist Joo Yeon-seon, a professor at Chung-Ang University and former principal cellist of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and guitarist Hwang Rin from KADI, who placed third in JTBC's Superband 2.

The Mixed Orchestra 'Collision and Harmony' will take place on September 28 at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Grand Theater in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Ticket prices are 50,000 KRW for VIP seats, 40,000 KRW for R seats, 30,000 KRW for S seats, and 20,000 KRW for A seats.
