Mid- to long-term accommodation platform MisterMansion (CEO Seongjun Jeong) announced that it has been selected for the ‘2022 Tourism Plus TIPS’ program supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Bokyun Park) and the Korea Tourism Organization.
‘2022 Tourism Plus TIPS’ is a project that discovers and supports companies possessing core technologies that can be linked to the tourism industry among those selected for TIPS, a private investment-led technology startup support program operated by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. Selected companies receive benefits such as a total of 400 million KRW in tourism commercialization funds and specialized consulting in tourism/technology fields to expand their business.
Since its first launch in 2020, Tourism Plus TIPS has discovered seven startups with new technologies such as ICT, AI, and big data. Companies like Move, TravelWallet, and Circulus are known to be preparing for overseas expansion by utilizing their technologies in the tourism industry to expand into new business areas.
Seongjun Jeong, CEO of MisterMansion, stated, “I am very pleased and feel a sense of responsibility to be selected for this meaningful project representing tourism companies,” adding, “Based on the new technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we will contribute to expanding the synergy effect that revitalizes the economy of urban regeneration areas and depopulated regions and realizes smart tourism.”
MisterMansion revitalizes idle facilities (vacant houses) in urban regeneration and depopulated areas and activates the local economy through weekly, biweekly, monthly stays, and workation projects. To date, more than 4 million people have used the service, and it operates over 2,500 accommodations in Jeju Island, 1,700 inland, 300 in Thailand, and more than 30 in Mongolia.
Meanwhile, since launching its service in 2016, MisterMansion has recorded more than double sales growth annually despite the COVID-19 pandemic and was selected as Busan’s first Tourism Star Company.
