Special Attention to Encouragement and Communication with Employees
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong is accelerating on-site management by visiting affiliates and business sites one after another following his reinstatement.
On the 26th, Vice Chairman Lee visited Samsung Electronics' Suwon plant, continuing his on-site management efforts after visiting the semiconductor research and development (R&D) complex at Giheung Campus (on the 19th), Hwaseong plant (on the 19th), and Samsung Engineering (on the 24th).
He paid special attention to strengthening communication with young employees.
At the Suwon plant, Vice Chairman Lee received a report from MZ generation employees of the Visual Display (VD) division about strategic products to be launched next year. The employees directly introduced the features and concepts of upcoming products Samsung Electronics is developing, such as Micro LED, Neo QLED, QD OLED TVs, and cloud gaming services, to Vice Chairman Lee.
During a meeting with DX (Device Experience) employees, he also heard opinions from MZ generation employees on various topics including ideas for future new businesses and ways to spread an innovative organizational culture.
At the semiconductor R&D complex, Hwaseong plant, and Samsung Engineering headquarters he visited earlier, Vice Chairman Lee had lunch with employees in the company cafeteria, carrying a tray and choosing a menu just like them, and listened attentively to the voices of the MZ generation. He also made efforts to get closer to employees by visiting the in-house daycare center to check on its operation status.
The business community is paying attention to the fact that Vice Chairman Lee is not only inspecting business sites after his reinstatement but also strengthening communication with employees, especially those of the MZ generation. Since about 50% of Samsung Electronics' entire workforce belongs to the MZ generation, his actions are interpreted as a message to understand MZ generation employees and customers and to reflect this understanding in organizational culture, products, and services.
For the time being, Vice Chairman Lee's on-site management and efforts to strengthen communication with employees are expected to continue. The business community anticipates that since he was the first to visit the field after reinstatement, he will accelerate the 'New Samsung' initiative by visiting not only various Samsung Electronics business sites but also electronic affiliates such as Samsung Display and Samsung Electro-Mechanics, as well as non-electronic affiliates like Samsung Heavy Industries and Samsung Biologics, focusing on strengthening unity and communication.
