[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Lee Jae-myung, a candidate for the Democratic Party leadership, said on the 27th that he feels "increasingly burdened" after winning overwhelming victories in the Seoul and Gyeonggi regional primaries.

After finishing a joint speech meeting in Seoul that afternoon, Lee told reporters, "I sincerely thank you for the unwavering high support. I will do my best until the very last moment."

Candidate Park Yong-jin said, "In baseball terms, it's the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs. I will do my best until the end so that I can hit a grand slam and leave." He emphasized, "I have appealed to the national delegates in various ways about the party's identity and future ahead of tomorrow's vote, so I expect the national delegate comrades to respond."

He added, "Rather than uniting to oppose someone, I tried to form a new force and generation in the Democratic Party centered on new values, but it is regrettable that it did not happen. I do not consider the efforts for generational change to be over just because it did not succeed this time."

Candidate Lee secured first place with a cumulative vote share of 78.22% in the party members' voting results. He received 75.61% of the votes in Seoul and 80.21% in Gyeonggi, maintaining his lead. In the overseas Korean party members' vote, his vote share was 80.28%. On the other hand, candidate Park Yong-jin garnered only 21.78% of the cumulative votes. Park received 24.39% and 19.79% in Seoul and Gyeonggi, respectively, and 19.72% in the overseas Korean vote.
