[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 25th that it will hold a humanities concert titled "Jeongeup Nongak," the origin of Honam Udo Nongak, at 7 p.m. on the 1st of next month at the Jeongeupsa Arts Center.
This humanities concert is a complex cultural content combining lectures and performances, centered on Jeongeup Nongak, a branch of Honam Udo Nongak.
It was prepared to rebirth the gradually disappearing Jeongeup Nongak performance due to industrialization as a cultural product loved by citizens and tourists, and to create awareness and empathy for Nongak.
The performance plans to present the functional and artistic aspects of Jeongeup Nongak, as well as its historical justification, through a storytelling format incorporating demonstrations and Panggut (circle drum performance), to inform citizens and Nongak performers about rich and excellent cultural and artistic resources.
In particular, Jeong Insam, a human cultural asset and holder of Gyeonggi Province Intangible Cultural Property No. 56, Gyeonggi Gokkal Sogo Dance, will showcase the Gokkal Sogo Dance, demonstrating masculine dynamism along with the graceful curves of Korean dance.
Also, the Municipal Nongak Troupe and former instructor Son Seokwoo will present the excitement and splendor of Jeongeup Nongak through the Jeongeup Nongak Panggut, enhancing the audience's enthusiasm.
The performance is free for all citizens on a first-come, first-served basis, and masks must be worn during the viewing. The performance will last approximately 60 minutes.
A city official said, "To expand citizens' cultural enjoyment, we designate the last week of every month as a week with culture and plan various performances and experiential events. We will continue to strive to satisfy citizens' cultural thirst and promote cultural arts development."
