[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim I-gang) conducted the emergency preparedness training, "2022 Eulji Exercise," a national emergency preparedness drill, for 3 nights and 4 days from the 22nd to the 25th.
According to Seo-gu, the Eulji Exercise, held annually in August, is conducted to master the administrative agencies' action procedures considering actual situations after the outbreak of war, and to secure residents' safety in case of emergencies based on close cooperation with related organizations such as fire stations and police stations.
This year's Eulji Exercise was carried out with various types of training, including simulating a terrorist attack on national important facilities using drones, to prepare efficiently for wartime in line with the recent Russia-Ukraine security environment.
The main training contents from the 22nd to the 23rd included ▲ wartime organization formation training, administrative agency dispersal training ▲ discussion of wartime pending issues ▲ joint counter-terrorism response in case of terrorist attacks on national important facilities ▲ actual fire suppression training.
On the 24th, ▲ civil defense evacuation training for public officials ▲ chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) education ▲ civil defense equipment exhibition ▲ VR safety experience education were conducted, and on the 25th, the training concluded with the Eulji Exercise closing report meeting presided over by the district mayor.
Kim I-gang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, "This Eulji Exercise was a training conducted as if in actual combat, focusing on establishing an emergency preparedness posture while maintaining a solid integrated defense system among civilians, government, military, and police," and added, "Through this Eulji Exercise, we will supplement the lacking parts and become Seo-gu that establishes an emergency preparedness posture."
