[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok's handwritten petition submitted to the court has stirred turmoil within the ruling party. Interpretations have emerged suggesting that expressions such as 'absolute ruler' and 'new military regime' were aimed at President Yoon Seok-yeol. While Lee claims that his handwritten petition was deliberately leaked by the ruling party, the ruling party is urging him to exercise restraint.

Lee has continued to deliver strong criticism against the ruling party. On the 24th, he directly addressed the issue on his Facebook, stating, "If there are people in the ruling party who truly care about a conservative government, instead of raising my limited recognition through stories about me, they should examine and correct how dangerous things are happening in the Yoon Seok-yeol administration." He added, "History repeats itself. Did the government that demonized Yoo Seung-min and chased him down collapse because of Yoo Seung-min?" and "Open your phones and wait eagerly for 'Cherry Thumbs Up'." 'Cherry Thumbs Up' is an emoticon President Yoon used in Telegram conversations with floor leader Kwon Seong-dong.

Furthermore, Lee suspected that the ruling party intentionally leaked his handwritten petition. He argued, "It is unusual for them to disclose the opponent's letter submitted to the court themselves, and calling this a revelation or saying the pin of a grenade has been pulled is shameless." The day before, he also said on Facebook, "They leaked the handwritten letter submitted to the court to publish articles criticizing me as 'crossing the line' or 'being agitated' and even self-agitated."

Earlier, the injunction petition letter submitted by Lee to the court was disclosed to the media the previous day. In the petition, he claimed, "If the absolute ruler who led this situation is not corrected by the judiciary, there is a possibility that the authority to declare an emergency situation, which was attempted this time like the new military regime that expanded martial law, will be exercised more actively." The use of terms like 'absolute ruler' and 'new military regime' by Lee sparked waves of reactions inside and outside the political circles, as they were interpreted to target President Yoon.

The ruling party is urging Lee to exercise restraint. The day before, Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu, criticized Lee's comparison of himself to Maximus, the protagonist of the movie Gladiator, saying, "Maximus was neither petty nor did he betray his comrades to save himself; he saved Rome with his death and gave freedom to his fellow gladiators." He added, "If this continues any further, it will become a comedy. I hope he restrains himself."

Former People Power Party Supreme Council member Jung Mi-kyung also advised, "He really needs to stop." On the same day, appearing on BBS Buddhist Broadcasting's 'Jeon Young-shin's Morning Journal,' she said, "If the Yoon Seok-yeol administration were a new military regime, they wouldn't let Lee make such noise now." She added, "This metaphor is inaccurate, and if this continues, many people who worry about the party and the country will be very concerned." Jung pointed out, "Politics should be resolved politically; if divided, it leads to self-destruction and mutual destruction. It is inappropriate for Lee to talk about the efforts made to resolve things politically at this point."

Meanwhile, the result of the injunction petition Lee filed to suspend the effectiveness of the party's Emergency Response Committee has not yet been announced. The Seoul Southern District Court stated the previous day, "The decision on Lee's injunction case will be made after next week."
