[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Two citizens stopped their car in the middle of the road and helped an elderly woman when the recyclables spilled from the cart she was pulling.

According to SBS on the 24th, at around 6:40 a.m. on the 18th, recyclables piled on a cart pulled by an elderly woman spilled on a road in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

As the pedestrian signal turned green, the elderly woman tried to handle the situation alone but was overwhelmed, creating a dangerous situation that could have led to a serious accident once the signal changed.

At that moment, a vehicle pulled into a safety zone, and two citizens who got out of the car began helping the elderly woman organize the recyclables.

They were Chief Kim Won-tae and Sergeant Kim Hyun-soo from the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul.

In the vehicle’s black box footage released by SBS, Chief Kim and Sergeant Kim helped the elderly woman load all the fallen recyclables back onto the cart, securely fastening them with a strap before leaving.

Sergeant Kim said, "If the elderly woman had tried to handle it alone, it would have taken a long time, definitely disrupting traffic flow, and even if cars tried to avoid her, it would have been dangerous. It wasn’t anything special; any police officer in that situation would have helped without hesitation."
