Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport "Actively Support Accelerated Redevelopment of 1st Generation New Towns"
Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Won Hee-ryong's promised meeting between the 'Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the heads of first-generation new town local governments' will be held next month.
On the 24th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) announced that a meeting between Minister Won Hee-ryong and the mayors of Seongnam, Goyang, Anyang, Bucheon, and Gunpo will be held on September 8.
The ministry stated, "The government will meet directly with local governments to listen to the opinions of local governments and residents, and based on this, actively support the speedy advancement of the first-generation new town redevelopment."
It added, "After the meeting, we also plan to discuss the operation plan for a working-level consultative body to ensure continuous communication and cooperation."
Additionally, MOLIT plans to elevate the government common team leader of the currently operating first-generation new town public-private joint task force (TF) to the first vice minister level and hold a plenary meeting on the 30th.
At the plenary meeting, key tasks related to commissioning research for establishing the master plan for first-generation new town redevelopment in September will be reviewed, and the operation plan for the master planner will be discussed.
The ministry stated, "We will promptly implement follow-up measures so that the public can tangibly feel the achievements of the first-generation new town redevelopment efforts."
Meanwhile, Minister Won previously announced the prompt holding of the meeting between the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the five local government heads, as well as follow-up measures after elevating the public-private joint TF, during a brief press meeting held at the Government Sejong Complex on the 23rd to mark his 100th day in office.
