Statistics Korea Announcement: Recovery at 60% Level and Employment Reaches 11.8%

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 24th that the employment indicators in the Gimhae area significantly improved in the first half of this year.
According to the city, the regional employment indicator survey results released by Statistics Korea on the 23rd showed that the employment rate among the population aged 15 and over in Gimhae City was 60.6%, an increase of 1.6 percentage points compared to the second half of last year.
The unemployment rate among the economically active population improved by 0.5 percentage points to 3.8% compared to the previous period.
The employment rate, which was 57.7% in 2020, has recovered to the 60% range again, and other employment indicators steadily increased compared to the previous year, with the number of employed persons rising by 3.0 percentage points, the economically active population by 2.4 percentage points, and the economic activity participation rate by 1.5 percentage points.
The city emphasized that the proportion of employed youth reached 11.8%, the highest level in the province.
A city official stated, "This is the result of efforts to create good jobs that citizens desire," citing ▲ the implementation of youth-centered 1·2·3 policies ▲ operation of youth centers ▲ youth recruitment matching incentive support projects ▲ discovery of promising companies ▲ expansion of corporate investment ▲ attraction of excellent strategic industries and mid-sized companies as the basis.
They also mentioned ▲ discovering jobs for socially vulnerable groups such as women and self-support beneficiaries by considering their special circumstances ▲ expanding support for small and medium-sized industries in crisis ▲ establishing a preemptive employment stability response support center.
The official added, "As a result, in July, the city received the 2022 National Local Government Job Award hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Youth-Friendly Legislative Award hosted by the National Assembly Secretariat."
Mayor Hong Taeyong said, "Despite the difficult conditions caused by COVID-19, the systematic promotion of job projects in cooperation with related organizations seems to have been reflected in the improvement of employment indicators," adding, "We will continue to strengthen industrial diversification, advancement, and large corporation investment attraction activities to create good jobs that citizens can feel."
