A scene of receiving admissions strategy guidance through the 'Songpa Run 1:1 College Consulting,' which has been operating every Saturday since last March
Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) is intensively operating ‘Songparun 1:1 Admission Consulting’ from the 22nd until September 8th to prepare for the 2023 academic year early admission.
‘Songparun 1:1 Admission Consulting’ is an entrance counseling program that the district has been operating every Saturday since March this year for middle and high school students and parents in the area. It helps establish systematic entrance strategies through counseling linked to students’ career paths.
With the 2023 academic year early admission application period starting on September 13th, the 1:1 admission consulting will be operated intensively. It focuses on the final check of application strategies by reviewing the materials prepared so far and conducting individual diagnoses. It also assists in writing self-introduction letters to enhance examinees’ competitiveness for university admission.
The consulting is held on weekdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is conducted face-to-face for 60 minutes at the Songparun Admission Learning Support Center (2nd floor of Jamsil Youth Center). Teachers belonging to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education’s University Admission Guidance Support Group and current admission counselors participate, and the service is free of charge.
This consulting is conducted for about 60 high school seniors and their parents. Applications can be made through the 1:1 Admission Consulting page on the ‘Songparun homepage’ or by calling the Education Cooperation Division of Songpa-gu Office directly.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “We prepared this consulting to provide practical help to examinees and parents in preparation for the diverse and complex college entrance exams,” and added, “We will continue to provide necessary support during the remaining entrance exam period to actively help young people nurture their future dreams.”
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-gwon) has taken the lead in strengthening the employment competitiveness of multicultural families.
The district announced that it will operate national and private certification acquisition courses to support the development of employment and entrepreneurship capabilities of multicultural family members such as marriage immigrants and naturalized citizens.
The purpose is to provide opportunities for multicultural residents, who are in a job blind spot due to cultural differences and language communication limitations, to acquire professional qualifications, thereby helping them settle stably in society and establish an economic foundation.
The education consists of five fields: ▲ ITQ Hangul and Excel computer ▲ Caregiver ▲ Professional organizer ▲ Bilingual instructor ▲ Nail art.
The ‘ITQ Hangul and Excel Computer Certification Class’ is divided into Hangul and Excel classes. Starting September 1st, 20 students per class will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes will be held every Friday for 6 hours over 16 weeks starting from the fourth week of October at the YDP Future Lifelong Learning Center.
The ‘Caregiver Certification Class’ provides systematic management through theory, practice, and training education at the caregiver training center located in Daerim-dong, supporting students until they pass the final certification exam. Starting with the 74th class that began on August 22nd, the 75th night class and the 76th day class will open sequentially every month.
A certification course for the ‘Professional Organizer (Level 2)’, a newly spotlighted occupation, is also prepared. Professional organizers provide consulting for efficient living environment organization. Through this education, participants can learn organizing methods applicable in daily life and obtain certification upon passing the written exam. The course runs for 6 weeks every Wednesday from August 24th at the Dadream Cultural Complex Center.
Additionally, there are ‘Bilingual Instructor Certification Classes’ that teach appropriate bilingual education to multicultural children or newly arrived immigrant youth using their mother tongue and Korean language skills, and ‘Nail Art Certification Classes’ where participants can acquire nail art skills and national certification through professional skin beauty academy education.
The bilingual instructor and nail art certification classes have completed recruitment but applications for the waiting list are possible.
These certification courses are free for multicultural family members residing in Yeongdeungpo-gu. Since recruitment periods, operation times, and education locations vary by class, detailed information can be found on the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office website or by contacting the Dadream Cultural Complex Center.
Kim Jeong-ah, Director of the Child and Youth Welfare Division, said, “I hope residents with diverse cultural backgrounds live together in harmony within the community based on healthy individual lives,” and added, “We will continue to discover and operate various programs to enhance multicultural capabilities in Yeongdeungpo-gu to create a global Yeongdeungpo where everyone can live as part of the local community.”

Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) will operate the second phase of the Healthy City School, ‘Mindfulness Health Class,’ at Haenuri Town Art Hall from August 24th to September 14th.
While the first phase of the Healthy City School held in June focused on physical activities such as Pilates and strength training, this ‘Mindfulness Health Class’ is designed to overcome emotional and psychological stress and promote mental and physical stability through diverse programs for mental health improvement.
The education targets 30 residents and will be held once a week for a total of 4 sessions at Haenuri Town Art Hall until September 14th.
