YeoBenHyup Holds Idea Contest for Middle-aged and Career-interrupted Entrepreneurs... Total Prize Money 32 Million Won

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Korea Women Venture Association will start the "2022 Women Venture Growth Challenge (YeoBenSeongJi)" middle-aged part startup contest, the "Women Venture Startup Queen Challenge," from the 23rd.

This contest aims to promote technology startups based on the experience, know-how, and lifestyle-oriented ideas possessed by middle-aged or career-interrupted women and to spread the venture startup boom. It is officially sponsored by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Foursys, Messy International, GIE&S, Doori System, Miju, Ecotronics, Uwel Deco, Daseong P&F, Nubida, and Dessert Lab.

The contest is open to women aged 39 and above. Anyone with a technology startup item or a startup in progress within three years of establishment, from prospective entrepreneurs to startups, can participate. For application methods, please refer to the association's website.

The contest will proceed in the order of document evaluation, presentation screening, and demo day. The final ranking will be decided, and an awards ceremony will be held on the day of the Women Venture Week event in November through the demo day. The demo day will be a place offering investment opportunities along with evaluations by investors and startup experts such as angel investors, accelerators, and VCs.

Competing for a total of 9 awards and a total prize money of 32 million KRW, the star queen of this contest will receive the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award along with a prize of 10 million KRW. One of the winners will also be offered a seed investment opportunity through the designated accelerator (SS2 Investment).

Kim Bun-hee, president of the Women Venture Association, said, "One of the ways for South Korea, facing aging and a demographic cliff, to find a way out is women's technology startups, especially the experience and expertise possessed by middle-aged and career-interrupted women." She added, "We will continuously pay attention and support so that they can gain courage and challenge the startup market."
