[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Digital Platform Government Committee Task Force, which is drawing up the blueprint for the 'Digital Platform Government,' one of the core policies of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, is expected to launch next month.

According to the government and IT industry on the 23rd, the launch ceremony of the Digital Platform Government Committee Task Force, the second direct committee under President Yoon, will be held in early next month. Although it was tentatively planned to launch this month, the schedule is expected to be postponed due to the tight timing caused by the August vacation season.

Earlier, the Presidential Office promulgated and enforced the 'Regulations on the Establishment and Operation of the Digital Platform Government Committee' on the 1st of last month and launched the committee. Subsequently, on the 29th of the same month, Ko Jin, who had led the Digital Platform Government TF since the transition team period, was appointed as the first chairman of the committee. Ko, the son of former Prime Minister Ko Gun, is known to have a close connection with President Yoon as he is one year junior to him at Daekwang Elementary School in Seoul.

The ministries related to the committee include the Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Personal Information Protection Commission. Since multiple ministries are involved, close discussions on personnel composition are underway among the ministries. On the 19th, the Ministry of Science and ICT dispatched Ryu Je-myung, director, and Kim Nam-cheol and Lee Sang-guk, managers, to the Digital Platform Government Task Force. With Director Ryu, a Ministry of Science and ICT official, appointed as the head of the task force, it is expected that director-level personnel from other ministries such as the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Economy and Finance, or the Personal Information Protection Commission will take other key positions. Additionally, the appointment process for about 30 private and advisory committee members remains.

The Digital Platform Government, included in the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's 110 national tasks, is a government where citizens, businesses, and the government collaboratively solve social problems and create new value on a digital platform where data is connected. The committee has presented five key focus areas: ▲Promoting citizen-experience leading projects ▲Proactive and customized public services ▲Scientific national governance based on AI and data ▲Creating a world-leading digital platform government innovation ecosystem ▲Ensuring a safe and trustworthy usage environment.

Once the Digital Platform Government is realized, citizens will receive customized services that proactively ensure they do not miss government benefits due to lack of awareness. Relevant documents need to be submitted only once at a single point during the application process. Businesses can create innovative projects by utilizing high-quality data opened by the government. The government is expected to improve work efficiency and accuracy through scientific decision-making, moving away from conventional and experience-based decision-making.
