NASA Releases Ultra-High-Resolution Images of Jupiter Captured by JWST

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), known as the "Eye of Humanity," has demonstrated ultra-high performance by capturing high-resolution images of Jupiter's auroras.

NASA announced on the 22nd (local time) the release of ultra-precise observational images of Jupiter (above) taken by the Webb telescope using a near-infrared camera with triple-filter processing. These images vividly capture auroras occurring in high-latitude regions such as Jupiter's north and south poles. Surrounding the auroras, swirling mists and light emanating from the auroras can also be observed. However, these images were taken in infrared, which is invisible to the human eye, and have been processed for correction.

NASA also released high-resolution images with a wider focus, capturing Jupiter and its surroundings extensively. In these images, Jupiter’s moons Amalthea and Adrastea, the massive rings encircling Jupiter, and faint galaxies in the background that emit strong light making Jupiter’s observation difficult can be seen.
