Minimum 1.7 Million KRW with Government Subsidy
Electric Vehicle Purchase Inquiries Average 2-3 per Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Amid growing interest in eco-friendly mobility, electric bikes priced in the hundreds of thousands of Korean won have been sold at convenience stores. Convenience stores are now going beyond simply selling easy-to-eat food items, blurring the boundaries of product types and prices.
According to Emart24 on the 23rd, 11 units of electric bikes introduced as unique Chuseok gifts were sold within ten days. Purchases were made nationwide, including in Yongin, Gyeonggi; Incheon; Busan; Jeonnam; Chungnam; and Gyeongbuk. The products offered include eCooter Korea’s E1 S Plus, E2 Plus, E2 Plus Cargo models, and Blue Shark Korea’s R1 Lite. Prices range from 3.5 million to 4.7 million KRW, and with government subsidies applied, they can be purchased for 1.7 million to 2.8 million KRW. Customers can visit Emart24 to view catalogs and pre-order their desired products. A happy call consultant guides customers through the entire purchase process, from subsidy application to product delivery, using the contact information left during pre-order.
Interest is also high regarding electric car purchases, with 2 to 3 inquiries received daily on average. Currently, Emart24 is collaborating with electric vehicle specialist DP Co. to sell two types of Portro micro electric trucks and three types of Masada electric cars. The Portro micro electric trucks are small logistics trucks specialized for alleyway deliveries, priced around 10 million KRW depending on local government subsidies. With all subsidies applied, including benefits for individual business owners, they can be purchased for around 9 million KRW. Masada electric vehicles include 2-seater and 4-seater electric vans and electric pickup trucks, priced between 37 million and 38 million KRW. Depending on local government subsidies, they can be purchased for 14 million to 17 million KRW.
Convenience stores release unique premium products every holiday season. This year, CU is selling mobile homes (15.6 million to 22.65 million KRW) and luxury plants such as Monstera Albo (2.9 million KRW), Muni Adansoni (1.15 million KRW), and olive trees (759,000 KRW). GS25 has introduced ultra-high-end wines including Dom P?rignon P3 1971 (25.69 million KRW) and Dom P?rignon P3 1973 (25.69 million KRW), known as the epitome of premium champagne. Seven Eleven is selling about 20 luxury brand bags and wallets from Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, and others.
An Emart24 official said, "For the first time in the convenience store industry, we are selling electric cars and electric bikes as Chuseok gifts. With local government subsidies and growing customer interest in e-mobility, sales are progressing faster than expected."
