[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) is promoting the ‘2022 Chuseok Donation Sharing Campaign’ from August 29 to September 19 ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

The ‘Donation Sharing Campaign’ is an annual event that collects food and daily necessities stored in each household and delivers them to neighbors in need in the community, spreading a culture of donation and sharing to help everyone have a warm-hearted holiday.

Residents who wish to participate can donate food items such as ▲canned food ▲canned beverages ▲ramen ▲rice ▲drinks and daily necessities such as ▲toothpaste, toothbrushes ▲soap ▲detergent ▲toilet paper at sharing boxes set up at the community service centers, designated base institutions in each neighborhood, public and private daycare centers, and welfare centers (9 locations). However, frozen or refrigerated foods and side dishes that are easily perishable at room temperature are excluded.

The donated items collected with warm hands will be delivered to neighbors in need through the ‘Yangcheon-gu Food Bank · Market Center’.

Meanwhile, the district operates a donation campaign year-round that anyone can participate in without burden, to widely spread the culture of sharing not only during holidays but also in everyday life. Individuals or groups wishing to participate can contact the Yangcheon-gu Office Welfare Policy Division or the Yangcheon-gu Food Bank · Market Center.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “Small acts of sharing become great strength and warm love to neighbors in need,” and added, “Through the Chuseok donation sharing campaign, we ask for the active participation of residents so that our neighbors in the welfare blind spots can have a rich and abundant holiday.”

Yangcheon-gu, 2022 Chuseok Donation Sharing Campaign Promotion Kim Mi-kyung, the mayor of Eunpyeong District, is meeting and talking with market merchants at a traditional market in the Eunpyeong area.

Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is implementing a price stabilization management plan for the stability of low-income residents’ livelihoods from August 22 to September 13 ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

During the plan period, the district will operate a ‘Comprehensive Price Countermeasure Situation Room’ to establish order in distribution and transactions during the Chuseok holiday. For responsible operation, the Director of the Finance and Economy Bureau will serve as the head of the situation room and actively respond.

The district will frequently monitor the price trends of 20 major agricultural and livestock products that have recently risen sharply during the Chuseok peak season and check compliance with price labeling at distribution and sales stores.

Price monitoring personnel at the situation room will conduct surveys on prices of essential daily necessities at local retail stores and inspect unfair trade practices. Targets include traditional markets, large stores, and marts that are highly frequented by residents and close to residential areas. The survey results will be posted on the district’s website to provide accurate price information to consumers.

The 20 Chuseok peak season items monitored include cabbage, radish, apple, pear, onion, garlic, potato, chestnut, jujube, pine nuts, beef, pork, chicken, eggs, squid, mackerel, pollack, hairtail, croaker, and dried anchovies.

From August 28 to September 12, traditional market holiday events will be held. To encourage the use of relatively inexpensive traditional markets, discount events for ritual items and excellent products will be conducted.

The district will promote various projects to revive the local economy, which has slowed due to COVID-19, and foster a rational consumption culture. It will strengthen online and offline promotions encouraging the use of ‘Good Price Stores’ that maintain reasonable prices despite the recent high inflation. Before the Chuseok holiday, the district will also issue the local currency ‘Eunpyeong Sarang Gift Certificate’ to boost the local economy.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “We will strive for price stabilization management during the holiday and revitalization of the local economy so that everyone can enjoy a joyful and abundant Chuseok.”

The revised booklet includes added content for preventing muscle loss and increasing muscle mass, as well as information on ▲protein content by food ▲healthy meal settings ▲reducing sodium and sugar intake, and contains ▲82 recipes for single servings including protein meals, healthy meals, low-sodium meals, low-sugar meals, and fermented meals, along with nutritional information for each menu.
