[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] National Assembly members Lee Byung-hoon and Shin Jeong-hoon have been elected as chairpersons of the Democratic Party's Gwangju Metropolitan City Party Committee and Jeonnam Provincial Party Committee, respectively.

According to the Democratic Party's Gwangju City Party Committee on the 21st, at the delegates' convention held that day, National Assembly member Lee Byung-hoon (Gwangju Dong-gu Nam-gu Eul) defeated candidate Choi Hoe-yong with a final vote rate of 60% to 40%, winning the position of city party chairperson.

The method for selecting the city party chairperson this time was according to party regulations, the final vote rate was determined by combining 50% from the valid votes of the city party delegates' convention and 50% from the votes of the party members with voting rights, and the candidate with the highest final vote rate was elected.

Among the total 624 national delegates in the Gwangju area, 470 participated in the vote, recording a turnout rate of 75.3%. Candidate Lee received 276 votes, while candidate Choi received 194 votes.

For the online and ARS voting of party members with voting rights in the Gwangju Metropolitan City Party Committee, out of 90,730 eligible party members, 26,611 participated, resulting in a turnout rate of 29.3%. Candidate Lee received 16,281 votes, and candidate Choi received 12,080 votes.

The Jeonnam Provincial Party Committee also held a regular delegates' convention at the No. 1 Gymnasium in Gangjin County and unanimously appointed National Assembly member Shin Jeong-hoon (Naju·Hwasun) as the new provincial party chairperson.
