Additional Issuance of 136 Billion KRW in Local Love Gift Certificates
Promotion of Special Sales Event to Boost Consumption of Agricultural, Livestock, and Marine Products

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Gyeongbuk Province held the 4th Emergency Economic Countermeasure Meeting on the 19th at the provincial office conference room, chaired by Deputy Governor of Economy Idalhee, with about 20 participants including heads of departments and bureaus.
On that day, they checked the price situation in preparation for the Chuseok holiday and reviewed the livelihood stabilization and economic crisis response status by each task force.
Each task force examined the execution status of the livelihood stabilization support budget in response to the economic crisis and ordered prompt execution of any insufficient parts, focusing intensively on livelihood stabilization measures.
As of the 19th, out of the 2.0516 trillion KRW livelihood stabilization budget promoted by the province, about 1.3853 trillion KRW was executed, showing an execution rate of 67.5%.
Considering the economic crisis situation, they decided to concentrate all capabilities on livelihood stabilization by completing early execution of the remaining funds.
Since this Chuseok comes amid an economic crisis, they set the period until the 12th of next month as the key period for price stabilization during the Chuseok holiday and decided to respond with full force to manage prices for ordinary citizens and stable supply of seasonal products.
They organized and operated a comprehensive situation room for Chuseok price stabilization and designated price stabilization managers for major items such as agricultural, livestock, and marine products, and personal services, aiming to stabilize the 20 major seasonal products at normal price levels.
This year’s Chuseok seasonal products, expected to see reduced shipments and price surges due to record heavy rain, heatwaves, and autumn typhoons, will have supply and demand adjusted in cooperation with agricultural cooperatives, Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, and others to ensure timely supply and price stability.
To revitalize the livelihood economy consumption, special Chuseok discount events such as the double discount (5,000 KRW coupon) commemorating the 1st anniversary of the public delivery app Meokgaebi will be held.
They will additionally issue 136 billion KRW worth of local love gift certificates to support consumption promotion, and hold an event where up to 30% of the same-day purchase amount of domestic marine products will be refunded in Onnuri gift certificates (limit of 20,000 KRW per person).
Additionally, to supply excellent local agricultural, livestock, and marine products at affordable prices and induce consumption promotion, special sales events for Hangawi agricultural specialty products will be held at the provincial office and in Seoul, Daegu, and Pohang, and support will be provided for local specialty marine product win-win discount coupons.
Idalhee, Deputy Governor of Economy of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “To stabilize prices during Chuseok, we will do our best to ensure that residents can have a comfortable Chuseok by expanding supply of seasonal products, adjusting supply and demand, issuing discount coupons for agricultural, livestock, and marine products, holding various discount events, and promptly executing support funds for small and medium enterprises, small business owners, and vulnerable groups.”
