Gwangju Dong-gu 'Traveler's ZIP' Bustling... 4,000 Visitors in One Month

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that the 'Traveler's House (ZIP),' a traveler convenience space ambitiously prepared to create a 'city you want to find, a cultural tourism city you want to stay in,' has surpassed approximately 4,000 visitors in just over a month since its opening.


The 'Traveler's House' was remodeled from the former Jeollanam-do Superintendent of Education's official residence into a building with one basement floor and two above-ground floors. Since its official opening on July 8, it has become a popular spot in the Dongmyeong-dong cafe street, attracting an average of 100 to 200 domestic and international visitors daily, and 400 to 500 visitors on weekends.


In addition to serving as a tourist information center for visitors to Gwangju, the Traveler's House is a rest area where travelers can plan their trips and recharge their mind and body, as well as a complex exhibition space composed of exhibits symbolizing Gwangju's identity.


Specifically, programs linked to Dong-gu's tourism resources such as ▲ZIP Beer Networking Party ▲Summer Flea Market Ground.D ▲Come Play Challenge ▲Light Fountain Challenge are operated, providing travelers with diverse enjoyment.


Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, "I am proud that the Traveler's House is establishing itself as a traveler’s rest area in the city center and another tourist attraction of Dong-gu," adding, "We will continue to prepare various programs such as exhibitions and performances so that it can be an attractive space where tourists can enjoy and relax, satisfying travelers' satisfaction."
